Nature Strip Trees

\

Thousands upon thousands of older suburban streets throughout Victoria are lined with nature strips. These are usually 1½ - 2 metre wide. In front of nearly every house is a tree of some description. They vary in species from street to street. A good idea at the time but as the saying goes........ large trees from small acorns grow.

One cause of fire is power lines coming into contact with trees.

Through this tree's branches run five domestic power supplies, three phone lines, the Neighborhood Network cable, main area telephone cable and the main power cables.

The nature strip and tree belong to the council. Residents are responsible for keeping the nature strip grass trimmed and tidy. Residents are not allowed to touch the trees, which is a good thing.

Not a good idea to plant trees directly under power lines in the first place.

This is an oak tree on the nature strip outside a house. How do I know it is an oak tree?

Acorns.

Millions of 'em.
